For the grandfather of photojournalism, decisive moments come in bunches. Such was the case at the April 28 opening of the Henri Cartier-Bresson retrospective at the Bibliothèque Nationale and the April 28 kickoff of the "HCB’s Choice" exhibition at the newly opened Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation in Paris.
The 95-year-old Cartier-Bresson was his usual cantankerous self at both star-studded openings. "He looks great, but he still behaves badly at openings," says Helen Wright, Cartier-Bresson’s American agent. "He sat in a corner most of the time without talking to anyone."
